11 - 12:  Grab Bag Weekend
Saturday happens to also be the big day of the massive family picnic I need to show up for, and while there is internet access at the camp ground these days, time is going to be an issue.  I'll probably post late Friday night after midnight and then play catch-up on Saturday evening after the picnic.

Kyle:  Saturday - Age reversal.  Something needs to break the emo for this boy, so I'm letting him be a kid again and get into mischief such as fingerpainting on the walls.
Sunday - Safari Day.  I think it might be interesting to turn him into a wolf and let him run around with Mercy for the day.  Or maybe power-switch to have him switch with a werewolf, because that appeals to me too.

Tony:  I might just let him hang out and be himself this Grab bag.  It'll depend on what everyone else is doing, really.

Owen:  Saturday - nothing
Sunday - Road Not Taken.  He doesn't get shot.  He's alive.  ALIVE.  And going out on the town.

Owen may be taking an unexpected flight around the City.  Because he would bitch terribly about it and it would be funny.

You know how they say you don't realize how much stuff you have until you try to pack it all?  It's true.

I'm moving out of my houseshare on Monday and so most of this weekend consists of trying to pack everything and also eat up all the food in my cupboard and fridge (which will be impossible but I am still trying in the name of feelings guilty for throwing food out that is perfectly good).

I think I might have to mail things home to myself, as my plane ticket only allows me 30 kg of baggage TOTAL, which sucks ass and is too little.  My suitcase frame alone weighs at least 15 kg and that's without anything in it.  Plus I have books, a laptop which is huge and heavy and awkward, and all my shoes (I must get rid of three pairs.  No excuses.  Three pairs must go.), my clothes for an entire year, two coats, umbrellas, cosmetics, tupperware...okay, maybe not the tupperware.

Some of the stuff I can put in storage with my car.  Which...I also cannot take with me.  Also the MOT runs out on it in June.  >.>
 
So from Monday to Sunday I'll be in a hotel in Gatwick, chilling and experiencing the UK for the last time for three months and then I'm on a plane to Toronto~

Paid 283 pounds for hotel and plane ticket so am feeling very business savvy at the moment.  Will probably blow saved 200 pounds on a spa day.  Hey, I need a facial desperately.

My options for next September are limited.  I can do some networking and volunteer stuff when I go home and put myself on the supply list (with little hope), and apply for a few positions teaching at colleges and universities, but if nothing pans out there, then I'll have to consider returning to the UK to work again.

If I do return, it'll be with an agency that can place me in London or closer to London.  There is no way I'm getting put out in hicksville Norfolk anymore.  And hopefully a grammar school?  Cross your fingers?

I have to redo my CRB and maybe upgrade my visa to an ancestral instead of a Working-Holiday, but that shouldn't take too long to do.

And if all else fails, I can always find work on a cruise ship.  What I really want is someone from home to come with me to London.  I have no idea where everyone I knew from teacher's college has gone.  The States, maybe?

In other news, smallfandomfest  is putting up their prompts for claiming again.  I might claim one of the Blood Ties 'bookverse prompts.  The Lee/Tony; Toronto prompt has got me wondering what it would be like if Tony took Lee back to his hometown to visit Vicki/help with a wizardy problem/Lee shoots a movie scene, etc.  I have a billion scenarios for getting Lee and Tony to Toronto.

There's also one about Tony and Henry and their conversation after the end of Smoke and Mirrors where Tony drives Henry home in the trunk as it's daylight pending, and that caught my eye but I'm not sure I'd be able to get Henry's voice right for it.

In terms of investigative crime + quirky people, I think Lie to Me is more entertaining.  Of course, I say this after my parents dragged me into watching Bones marathons when they were obsessed with the show and kind of grew sick of it, despite the interesting premise.

Of course, people in the USA are apparently missing out, as I think they're only broadcasting it in UK and Australia and Canada right now?

Here's how it works.  You pick a character I RP currently and an age, I write a snippet or drabble of an event that happens to that character at the age given.

My current pups are Tony Foster darkest0knight and Kyle Brooks justashow .  If you want less current RP characters of mine you can ask but I won't promise that my inspiration will stretch that far.

Know what's annoying?  When people you used to rp with purge their journals so they can use them again, which is fine but now a good chunk of the work you did with developing your character is gone too, never to return.

How fucking hard is it to just create new filters, dammit?  Or just think of another journal name?

I know, hypocrite much because I deleted Yamato's journal in a fit of paranoia because I couldn't figure out how to downgrade that account and Livejournal sure wasn't helping much to inform me, and I was losing money for it.  But I regret it and wish I hadn't now.

Okay, I know I've been in the UK for half a year now, but I'm just figuring this out now because I am slow.  BUT

British people, when they see you in the street or in the hallway or in passing etc., don't say hello.

No, they don't.

What they DO say is "Are you okay?"  And they say it in this tone that implies that you might look like you've just slept in the gutter or something.

BUT DO NOT MISTAKE THIS AS AN ACTUAL INQUIRY AS TO YOUR STATE OF BEING.

British people, when they say "are you okay?" don't actually mean "are you okay?"  They mean "hello".  I've spent half a year trying to explain to my co-workers and flat mates that I'm really fine and okay, maybe I've come down with a bit of a cold but it's nothing really, only to be talking to air a moment later as they escape down the hall.

The correct response to "are you okay?" in Britain is to grunt an affirmative, or nod, or say "fine" or some variation thereof that would imply a yes-type answer, and then to move quickly on as if you had merely said "hello".

Very tricky, Brits, but I am wise to your ways.  Next I will discover why you put beans on perfectly good baked potatoes as if to ruin them for all human consumption.

1.  Entourage - is on at some ridiculous hour like 11:00pm, on a Thursday.  I have to be up and ready to teach by eight guys, it's not happening.  It's a good thing I have a record button on the remote.  Even if Vince's character is ticking me off royally lately.

2.  Burn Notice - is doing that thing where they won't play any new episodes, just the same old ones over and over again.  I've asked for the DVD set for Christmas though, so that should make things better.

3.  Eli Stone - Never on when I have time to watch t.v.

4.  Merlin - Only Saturdays

5.  American Football - NOT PLAYED ON BRITISH CHANNELS DAMMIT.  ;_;

6.  Macy's Parade - missed it.  D:  But I heard everybody got Rickrolled.

7.  Supernatural - mailed to me in little DVDs every three weeks by my parents.

8.  So You Think You Can Dance Canada - also mailed to me by my parents (Go Allie!).

You know that feeling when you have a crap job, but then you get your first paycheck and look at it and go "YES.  I'M RICH.  SUCK THAT, HORRIBLE SCHOOL CHILDREN OF THE CORN.  MUAHAHAHAHAHA"?

I have that feeling right now.

Of course, the kids also seem to have given me the plague, as I've been coughing up green junk and the like.  And I don't even have a doctor in the UK yet.  ;_;

4.  Asian PBs for all anime characters regardless of character's looks and nationality.  Just.  No.

Name a few trends you notice among your PB choices:   Uhhh.  I don't think I have any.  Long does movies and commercials, Christina Aguilera does *cough* music, and Andrew Cooper is a male model.  But I generally choose PBs I can easily find icons for or who show a range of facial expressions.
Name a PB you would like to use but just haven’t:  I've always wanted to use Hera Hjartardottir for someone but never came up with a character she'd be good for.
